What is a Death Cafe?
To quote directly from the organisation who founded the concept:
"At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake drink tea and discuss death. Our objective is to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives. A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, no objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session”
I am deeply passionate about creating opportunities and spaces for people to come together to talk about all things death, dying and end of life. And people really do want to talk about these subjects because they’ve been kept in the dark for too long.
Beyond The Taboo is your chance to come together with like-minded individuals. I host regular events where we will explore death from every angle through guided discussions, thought-provoking prompts and shared stories.
In 2026 I have some special things planned - guest speakers, workshops and events that are specific to various communities.
Please follow me on Eventbrite to get notified.
I am also contracted to various councils around Sydney to host Death Cafes and other events. If you’d like a monthly notification of “What’s Stirring In My Death Space” - no spam, just information on events - please sign up for my newsletter HERE.
If you’d like me to host a Death Cafe event at your workplace, please get in touch - I’d love to talk about the possibilities with you. You can email me HERE.
Hope to see you soon!
