Hello and Welcome ~

Angela Mizinska

I work in the end-of-life space as a Death Doula, supporting both humans and animals.

I am also a pet loss counsellor, supporting those experiencing both anticipatory grief and bereavement following the death of a beloved animal.

Additionally, I am a death literacy advocate and educator, hosting regular Death Cafés and facilitating events to promote understanding, awareness, and education around all aspects of end-of-life.

MY MISSION

To give compassionate end of life care to people and pets

Hello, I’m Angela. I’m a Death Doula, death literacy advocate and educator, and someone who believes we all deserve to meet death, our own or someone else’s, with clear eyes, open hearts, truth and accurate information.

I work with people at all stages of life (and death). Those facing terminal illness, those supporting a dying loved one (human or animal), those navigating voluntary assisted dying, and those who simply want to be better prepared. I also support professionals in the death space through The Death Worker’s Circle, and offer workshops to help communities and workplaces become more death literate.

My background is in practical systems - bookkeeping, business, organising what feels messy - and I bring that same groundedness to the uncertainty and mystery of end-of-life. I’m not here to sugar-coat or mystify. I’m here to help you get clear, feel supported, and know what your options are.

Outside of this work, I’m a writer, a van-life planner, and someone who believes that pets are family and grief deserves time. I value honesty, integrity, and language that doesn’t dance around the truth. If you’re looking for someone who can hold space while helping you move forward, welcome.

I wear many hats in the end of life space …

There are many names for us. Death Doula. Deathwife. End of Life Doula. Death Midwife. We have been around for centuries, supporting people at the end of their lives to stay at home to die, to be looked after by their family and their community. But somewhere along the way this natural and accepted process of dying and death became a feared, sterile and medicalised process, leaving the dying person feeling isolated and scared.

As a Death Doula my capacity is non-medical and non-clinical, providing a bridge between the medical care team and individuals, their families and carers. My role is to provide options, not to give advice.

I can come in at any point from when a terminal diagnosis is given or someone is nearing the end of their life. I can walk with and journey with them until the last breath is taken, providing support, education and advocacy. And afterwards I can support the families and carers by assisting and supporting in funeral arrangements.

There is so much to navigate in this space, and when emotions are running high I am that stable and steady force, offering support and care.

Death Cafes and Events

As Death Doula it is my passion and mission to improve death literacy and comfort around talking about all things death, dying and end of life. To this end I host monthly Death Cafes, both in-person and virtual and other events to increase death literacy and education in the community.

The Death Saloon End of Life Planning parties are unique gatherings that open doors to meaningful conversations and practical preparations about mortality and future wishes.

It will have you thinking about things you probably have never thought about and possibilities you didn't know existed regarding end of life planning. Because you don't know what you don't know.

The Death Saloon

Just as there are Death Doulas for humans, there are also Death Doulas for pets. I offer palliative care and support to pets who are at the end of their life, and that support extends to the family of the pet.

I am also a Pet Loss Counsellor and I will be here to support you in your deep feelings of grief, pain and loss.

Love and Grief

Death is not the opposite of life, but a part of it.
